【摘要】:Thevaluesdeterminedinthistestmethod,whenevaluatedintermsofpertinentexperiencewithothercoals,maybeusedasindicationsoftheextenttowhichcoalwillbreakinconventionaltransitandhandlingbeyondthepointofsampling.1.1Thistestmethodofdropshattertestcoversthedeterminationoftherelativesizestabilityanditscomplement,thefriability,ofsizedcoal.Itaffordsameansofindicatingtheabilityofcoaltowithstandbreakagewhensubjectedtohandlingatthemineandduringtransittotheconsumer.Thetestmethodisserviceableforascertainingthesimilarityofcoalsinrespecttosizestabilityandfriabilityratherthanfordeterminingvalueswithinnarrowlimitsinordertoemphasizetheirdissimilarity.Thistestmethodisconsideredapplicablefortestingaselectedsinglesizeofdifferentcoals,fortestingdifferentsinglesizesofthesamecoal,andformixedsizesofthesameordifferentcoals.Note1Bysinglesizesismeantthosewithfixedupperandlowersieveopeninglimits,selectedfromthosedesignatedin;andbymixedsizesismeanteither"slack"oramixtureoftwoormoresinglesizes.1.2Thistestmethodappearsbestsuitedformeasuringtherelativeresistancetobreakageofthelargersizesofcoalwhenhandledinthinlayerssuchasfromloadertominecar,fromloadingboomtorailroadcar,fromshoveltochute,etc.Whileitmaynotbesowelladaptedformeasuringtheliabilitytobreakageofcoalwhenhandledinmass,asinunloadingopen-bottomcars,emptyingbins,etc.,itisbelievedthatthetestmethodwillservealsotoindicatetherelativesizestabilityofcompositesizesofcoalwhere,incommercialhandling,thesmallersizedpieceshaveacushioningeffectwhichtendstolessenthebreakageofthelargerpiecesofcoal.1.3Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsshallberegardedasthestandard.Massmaybeexpressedinmetricvalues.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
